SINGLE // Black Actors :: Hold Up ((I Got It))

As the newest additions to Elm & Oak’s powerfully versatile label, Black Actors (Quiz & Anansi) have seemingly been everywhere in Colorado since their inception… and they have become the hip-hop group on everyone’s minds.  Combining electronic rhythms and their extremely poetic – yet dominating – flows, their newest track “Hold Up (I Got It)” brings to mind the unbelievable successes that hip-hop has had in the electronic music industry, and has us pumped for some more from the Black Actors duo.

BLACK ACTORS is a progressive hip-hop duo composed of Chris Mose (Quiz) and Tk Kayembe (.anansi). The Denver based groups music can be described as intelligent hip-hop mixed with trap bangers, wonkey off-kilter beats and deep-rooted lyrics. Imagine MF Doom linking up with a hologram of j.dilla. It’s kind of like that. They’re all about keeping things unified and cohesive which is evident in their name, a nod to the immortal Dave Chappelle quote “black actors just got to stick together.

Chris Mose (Quiz) grew up as an army brat, traveling all around the country, and began writing poetry at a very early age. His love for words and his love for music met just before graduating from high school where he started recording and has been naturally progressing since then. Performing since 2004, Chris has shared the stage with Wiz Khalifa, RZA, Kool Keith, Zion I, and countless others. With his past collaborative releases having seen high placement on the CMJ Hip Hop charts, Quiz’s smooth vocal delivery and dynamic lyrical abilities put him at the top of the game.
