Our homie Alex Botwin is back with the next evolution of the Paper Diamond sound. When we caught up with him at Ultra Music Festival, he hinted that PD was on the verge of something big. The Wavesight EP is that big news, a huge step forward not only because he’s confidently striding forward but also because doing so has caught Mad Decent‘s attention and support.
Paper Diamond :: Can We Go Up
When we asked if Miami-style EDM would somehow influence his next release, and he cryptically said “Just wait… when this announcement comes out,” “Can We Go Up” is surely what he meant. Female-vocal-driven complextro with all the fixings, this one is built for big-room speaker banging.
Paper Diamond :: Turn the Lights Off feat. Nasimiyu
More girl power and heavy bass melted over a saucy rhythm. I would have been completely fooled into thinking this track came from Big Gigantic, but keep in mind that Alex was the one who taught Dominic how to do it in the first place. Now he’s showing him how it’s done all over again.
Paper Diamond :: AirLift
My favorite cut from the EP starts off with a similar vibe until the bottom drops out into a concussive dubstep. What exactly is Paper Diamond airlifting? The answer, naturally, is a cache of bass bombs.
