We were tipped off to a man named DJ Slink today, a DJ/producer who definitely deserves a little UFO love. You may have encountered Slink after his Kings of Leon’s “Use Somebody” remix took off on HypeM two years back, but we feel fortunate that we only found that out AFTER we discovered a cache of killer tracks on his SoundCloud. He’s been on a hot streak in the last month. Example A: “Dat Shit Cray,” a fuzzy moombahton/dancehall/breaks banger.
We’re singling out DJ Slink’s “Dat Shit” but realistically the dude deserves his own feature. We’re mostly impressed by his versatility, and within the last couple of weeks alone he’s got tracks all over the map. Examples B, C, and D: “Smiley Iris,” an electro breaks track with a big house synth hook; “Werk Me,” straight bootie groovin’ slutwave beats; and “Whole Lotta Bass & Love,” a scratchy dubstep banger that is mostly faithful to the original Zep track (you gotta listen to the 4:00 mark when he scratches the hell out of the vocal sample).
